Don't miss all the news and updates coming from our clinic!

Clinic Update

Because of how rapid the Coronavirus spread, our clinic has decided to CANCEL ALL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES until Monday, May 4th. 2020; The building will be closed during this period. The clinic will continue to monitor the Coronavirus situation and a new plan of action will be established. Our website (https://www.helpinghandsfreeclinic.org/) will always have the most up-to-date information on our clinic's status and schedule.

Thank you all for your patience during this challenging and stressful time. We feel as though we are doing our part to slow the spread of the Coronavirus. Please take all necessary precautions to keep yourself healthy and safe.

Thank you for your understanding and for supporting our clinic.

Good Hand Washing and Social Distancing Practices

The following are good hygiene practices:

  • Washing your hands regularly for 20 to 30 seconds. If soap and water is not available, use a hand sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol.

  • Hand sanitiser does not replace washing your hands after using the bathroom.

  • Always use soap and water if your hands are visibly soiled.

  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Covering your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing with a tissue or coughing into your elbow.

  • Dispose used tissues into a bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards.

  • The following are good for social distancing:

  • Attempting to keep a distance of about 5 feet between yourself and other people.

  • Avoiding crowds and large public gatherings.

  • Avoiding shaking hands, hugging, or kissing other people.

  • Minimizing visits to vulnerable people, such as those in aged care facilities or hospitals, infants, or people with compromised immune systems due to illness or medical treatment.

  • Keeping connected with others, including colleagues, friends and family, through phone, email, social media, and online work platforms when possible.

Indoor/at Home Activities to Keep the Mind Active During COVID19

If you are looking for some structure in your day, here are some relaxing activities you can do at home during the COVID-19 quarantine:

  • Color, doodle, draw: it can lead to a meditative state that helps reduce anxiety

  • Go for a walk or other physical activity: studies have shown that a brisk walk can make you feel more creative

  • Do yoga or meditation: yoga can boost your mood, lower stress and anxiety and boost your self-esteem

  • Chat with someone: Just because you’re socially distancing doesn’t mean that you can’t connect

  • Sing, listen to, play music: Singing has been shown to improve people’s mental health and sense of belonging; Listening to music can help people in the face of a scary and stressful experience

  • Read or write: can help you clarify your thoughts and feelings
