COVID-19 and Masking Update
Given the changes to COVID-19 and the policies of the healthcare sector in Columbus, our clinic team now feels prepared to make even further changes to its previous COVID-19 protocols. See below for our current COVID-19 and masking policies, as of today, May 1st:
In regards to COVID-19:
Patients exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms no longer require negative PCR results to be seen at the clinic.
Patients exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or symptoms of any respiratory illness (coughing, sneezing, fever, sore throat, etc.) can be seen at our clinic. Screening protocols will remain in place and any patient with a respiratory illness symptom will be required to wear an N95 mask (provided by the clinic).
The requirement for a patient to mask will be up to the discretion of the clinic's Intake Patient Guide, Operations Manager, and Director of Nursing and is based on the screening protocols. The Director of Nursing and/or Operations Manager can ask a patient to wear a mask at any point during their clinic visit.
Our clinic is not able to offer COVID-19 testing or COVID-19 vaccinations. We are still recommending patients reach out to Columbus Public Health for either of those services.
In regards to masking:
Any patient, volunteer, staff member, board member, or supporter exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness (coughing, sneezing, fever, sore throat, etc.) will be required to mask.
The Director of Nursing and/or Operations Manager can ask a visitor to wear a mask at any point during their clinic visit.
Masking for asymptomatic patients, volunteers, staff members, Board Members, and supporters is no longer required. If you are experiencing no symptoms of illness and are feeling healthy, masking is considered voluntary and can be made as an individual decision.
The clinic will continue to have surgical masks and N95 masks available for anyone who would like to wear a mask when on-site.
Please note, some of these changes were made effective on April 1st; however, we wanted to share all of our current COVID-19 and masking policies, making the list above quite comprehensive.
These changes reflect the changes being made in our community. In discussion with our clinic's Medical Director, we made these changes to follow the adjusting of mask requirements at the major hospital systems and healthcare networks in Central Ohio. Thank you for your never-ending patience as we navigate the changing circumstances and requirements in our community. Our priority is always to keep our patients, our supporters, and our community healthy. Thank you for supporting our mission and for supporting our priority of safety.
If you have any questions about these policies, do not hesitate to talk to our team members.
Goodbye, Chamberlain Students!
Our clinic loves hosting the students from the Chamberlain College of Nursing every few months, but it is time to say goodbye! The students join us for rotations every two months and their spring rotation has come to an end. While you will be missed, we cannot wait to see you again in July!
We also want to extend a special thank you to this rotation's students as they collected items to donate to our patients as well. We so appreciate your generosity and partnership!
Volunteer THANK YOU
As you all know, our clinic relies on volunteer power to keep its clinic doors open. In 2022 alone, Helping Hands Health and Wellness Center utilized over 2,500 hours of volunteer time to keep the clinic running!
However, I wanted to extend a special THANK YOU to our volunteers this month because they truly went above and beyond. From volunteering during our regular clinic programs to joining us during our clinic beautification day to representing our clinic at off-site events, such as with the Worthington Resource Pantry, our volunteers stepped up and stepped in when we needed the support.
Thank you to each and every volunteer that commits to our clinic. You are the best of what our clinic has to offer and we wouldn't be able to serve without you.
Happy Mother's Day!
From all of us here at Helping Hands Health and Wellness Center, we'd like to wish all of the mothers involved with our clinic a Happy Mother's Day! Thank you to all of the mothers who volunteer with our clinic, donate to our clinic, support our clinic, and, of course, receive care from our clinic. Each and every one of you are essential to our mission.
